My brain's a little tired of the LWP thingy that doesn't seem to work for me…
To give you a little background on why LWP — well you should already know why, read my previous, previous post…
Anyway.. I have this LWP script that will pass values to a script. the problem is.. no one seems to post the script that the values are passed to. Therefor, I'm posting to something that does not exist.
ysth and ambrus of the perlmonks.org gave a hint that my servers have to be listening to LWP request.. so how do i set that? I'll think about it the next time…
Anyway… a little fun.. Here's the Top 60 soft skills required in any kind of work that you must have or posses as I have promised the other day

So, with that said, I HAVE TO GIVE MY COMMENT/s!!
#'s 1 to 15 seems good but # 16??
Driver's license? — why do I need a Driver's license? ID? ok… if i'm an employer what is the advantage of a guy with a driver's license and another without if i'm into WEB DESIGNING…
17. Dependability? — Does that mean I have to be dependent on others? Or others depends on me…? [Dependable!]
18. Advanced Math — what does sine, cosine, and tangent have to do with Human Resources?
# 19 to 24 is good…
25. Ability to measure — what? using what? measure what? what?!
#26 to 31 is good.
32. Personal Chemistry. — does that mean that if I have too much selenium in my body employers won't employ me? j/k!! the term is wrong~
33. Willingness to learn. — THIS IS REALLY A MUST. I have this co-worker who often asks me things that are search-able in Google. I'm not Google!
34. Common sense. — ADD THIS!!
#35 — good.
36. Knowledge of fractions. — why? I already have math skills………………
# 37 is good-
38. Use of rulers and calculators.. — does call center agents use rulers and calculator to measure their service level?
#39 to the last # 60 is good and not everyone practices it so please read and understand them…
I know some of my comments are just joke but hey.. jokes are sometime true…
Well that's it for now… And I hope that the majestic monks of perlmonks can enlighten me more…
^^,
Last Friday (December 14, 2007) i received and email from our Director for Student Services stating that:
Please be advised that the Intern's Christmas Party 2k7 scheduled for tomorrow December 15, 2007 at the APC Cafeteria is canceled. This is to confirm earlier communication made by the CPO through your committee heads.
So, okay… With that canceled I need not to worry about the P250 contribution I had to give which is quite reasonable since my Auntie's Christmas party's contribution was around P600+
With that in mind I said to myself.. Why did it became canceled… A while ago my friend called me and confirmed the above message and I got a chance to ask about the reason behind the cancellation…
Friend: Ayaw kasi ni Dr. Tan mag Christmas Party eh!
Roiji: Bakit daw?
Friend: ewan….
Roiji: Sige, thanks!
Speculations aroused from me, they're being cheapskate for no apparent reasonable reason…
Why? I'll tell you why!
(1) High expenses of the school.. Higher energy fee.. that's an additional P2,700!
(2) in regards to the energy fee… IT'S BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTER IN THE LABS RUNNING 24/7, NO ONE'S USING WITH VIRUSES AND TROJANS IN THEM MAXING OUT THE CPU POWER EATING ENERGY!!!!
(3) I am in internship. Our Internship program is one of if not the best there is around because we work like ordinary employee's working hours.. meaning in short WE DON'T GO TO SCHOOL! so why is there and ENERGY FEE, ATHLETIC FEE, MEDICAL FEE, LIBRARY FEE, and GUIDANCE FEE in my accounts payable? I don't go to school!
So, okay… I'm a scholar of the school.. so what?! I still pay and I'm being accounted for the things that I do not use!
Another thing there is I'd like to thank and that they had notice… They removed the ID FEE. Thank goodness they realized something like that.. BUT hey, when I go back again for my other subjects, there it is again.. I pay / WE pay around 200-300 for that ID FEE and it's not being replaced every term.. AND is NOT being used for it's purpose… I mean, the thing is there is a chip inside those IDs that can be sensed by a device which logs you in or out if you tap it in. That was implemented 2 years ago and in just one term. After that, it's gone again.. I pay for the technology that will be outdated in 1-2 years time and I am not using it today…
I'm sorry about my rants lately. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT CHRISTMAS PARTY TO BE WITH MY FRIENDS but it went away just like that…
I really don't feel the joy of Christmas this year…. It's just around IT'S CHRISTMAS NEXT WEEK! and I don't feel it.. Even the weather is not cooperating.. IT'S HOT!
I really hope to feel more Christmassy next week for on Friday December 21 will be our company's Christmas party and I can't wait for my acoustic performance.. Sadly though, there isn't enough time for me and my group mates to rehearse. I not, I'M GOING SOLO!
I'd like to share also another email by our Career and Placement Office head, title: refund for the interns' xmas party that never was!
ALL INTERNS 1:
Relative to the cancellation of the supposed Interns' Christmas Party 2k7today, December 15, 2007 by the School Management, we shall be refunding the Php250 contributions you have paid thru your group coordinators. We are currently working on the accounting of the already incurred expenses, I shall announce again when the refund will be ready for claiming within the next week.
I would like to extend my "thanks" to all those people who invested their time and effort to work on this event and I do emphatize with you likewise on the unfortunate turnout of this plan….your contributions are well appreciated, nevertheless. Let this be a learning experience for us too
that we cannot please everybody all the time and let us challenge ourselves further to be flexible, open-minded and work on our failures through constructive alternatives.Happy Holidays to all!
IT"S REALLY A KILL JOY EXPERIENCE!!
That's all~
Next time I'm gonna post about the 'top 60 soft skills required' required in any kind of work that you must have or posses.
Though some of them are really useless..
Take Care! Thanks for reading…
Okay Fine… for the past week i've been thinking of this over and over again…
why not post a blog about what i've done in the office for the day before i leave home from work.. or blog in the morning to what happened to me the night before…..
Yeah I know everyone does that.. but hey.. I wanna do it too.. sayang naman tong i.ph blog ko kung wala rin lamang laman..
To start thing off..
I've been doing this project given to me by Sir Sherwin to come up with a UI resembling our Time Clock System using XUL generated by perl…
Here's the problem… perl is a server side programming XUL is an interface language meaning it doesn't have any other functions other than being an interface…
A little background on XUL…
XUL is around since 2001 i think and it's the interface in all Mozilla products… Firefox, Thunderbird, etc… To add functions to XUL we use javascript… btw, XUL is actually like XML… And is really fun to see…
So how does perl generate XUL?
By using a module by Jesse Vincent called Template::Declare (it's in CPAN)
with that installed we need not anymore learn much about perl… if you are good with formats then you're set to go..
I would really like to make this into a tutorial but maybe next time.. or if anyone requests it…
So okay, i'm done now with the UI… next question is.. HOW DO I LOGIN?
XUL has no forms… it doesn't need them because XUL does not send data to server hence 'THERE IS NO DATA.
THERE IS ONLY XUL.' tagline…
…that poses a big problem since i need to log into the time clock system…
there are 2 ways of working around it in XUL.
1.) since it's like XML ( i think it is and not like) we can use: XMLHttpRequest
2.) if you REALLY want to use forms.. we can use HTML forms by embedding it and adding it to the namespace..
ref: http://www.xulplanet.com/tutorials/xulqa/q_submit.html
BUT, I tried to use HTML forms.. the thing is, it does not display… It's there but it not.. weird..
so I'll use XMLhttpRequest… the thing there is i need to make another XML file? for what? my data is in a database..
So we have to have another work around…
I found an element called <http:serverpost />
it acts like a form for XUL and sends it using the post method to a page…
But if there are solutions.. there are bound to be problems again… http:serverpost is not part of the Template::Declare tags (Template::Declare currently support XUL HTML and RDF only)
Being makalkal as I am… I made my own tag declaration so that the template declare can reconize my http::serverpost element..
So okay, it is now displayed in the form.. the thing is.. it POSTS but it doesn't post the right things… what I get as a response is the whole page of th targetURL (the page where I was supose to send the message) without the data that I was suppose to send..
And I've been researching about the serverpost element for two straight days.. no answer found.. .. no forum post.. no mailing list post… as if like it's there being used by everyone and no one is getting any problem.. IT is there since 2004! or maybe no one's bothering to use it? serverpost spec in mozdev.
So i guess with that into about serverpost maybe everyone can support it somehow… currently it's 0.6 and i think it's embedded in firefox's chrome..
with that serverpost partly useless. I'm back to perl…
In perl.. I tried to use 2 methods…
CGI.pm
and
LWP
CGI is useless and I can't figure much about it…
and LWP? I'm currently on it..
I'll post about CGI.pm and LWP maybe next time.. or if I have more things to talk about it…
So there… this is getting too long for me to keep up.. and I must shut up somehow…
BTW, Christmas Party naming mga intern sa school bukas.. hehe ala pa ako suot.. tae, Hollywood Movie theme.. corny!
last week i was assigned to make this script that would take out ’serials’ from a text file s well as convert the date in it from CDT to GMT.
it took me 16 hours to produce the result.. i know it’s just a simple task of taking out every line and slicing them into pieces but hey… i know i can, and might be good at it, but i don’t want to program… T_T
i feel that i can be more creative in designing things.. creating images… photography… and all that multimedia-arts stuff.. T_T
why do i have to be not good in drawing… there’s only one question that kept me from not being a multimedia artist that i can be… "Can I draw?"
they say drawing can be practiced.. and for the past few years i think that i am better in drawing than i was before.. but then i get it is now and not before that i am better T_T.
but then i again.. i’m good at taking pictures.. with my K800i i see the world in a different perspective. what more if i had a digital SLR… /gg
——————–
on another end.. i did this left brain-right brain test on the net and found that my right brain is more dominant than the left.. that is: holistic processing, random, concrete, intuitive, non-verbal, and fantasy-oriented.
in a nut shell
Holistic Processing is seeing the big picture first before the details.
Random is being plain random, no scheds, no linear work (such as programming XD).
Concrete is being more about the answer than how to get the answer, or something like that.
Intuitive is more on gut feeling that what is right.
Non-verbal is like what is says, cannot explain verbally what he thinks.
Fantasy-oriented is the person changes his environment rather than adopt to it. In a worse scenario, that is probably the best thing to do but in a normal state, that may cause some problems.
Well, i don’t think that i see the big pictures first.. but see the details first.. because i often ask: "So, what’s your point?!" Being random, yeah, i’m guilty about it. My room’s in a mess but i got within reach what i want. As far as answer goes.. i’m contradicting my principle of it’s not the destination but the journey that matters… But then again, what’s the use of the journey if the destination does not matter..?! nyahahaha~! Intuition… this too i ma guilty, most of my decision making involves my intuition and sometime logic. I am not verbal.. i’d rather write a story than talk about my life.. Fantasy-oriented.. as an Arian yea, i change my environment for myself.. but i guess i should lessen doing so because i’d be invading others.. but then again, that’s a fun thing to do.
There’s also this part where it explained that right-brain oriented people find it hard to write papers because it takes them time to simply write it.. Right-brained people are not linear in thinking, therefor random, and cannot make outlines of what they’ll do and often times had to make revisions before publishing it…. I do too go back to what I was writing to remind me what I was writing about before my head flies away to another dimension.
if you want to know which side of the brain are you on visit here.
they sure had free advertisement from me… ^.~
